BMW R2

BMW R2

This is my 1931 BMW R2, series one. A very rare machine--the only BMW made with open valves and rocker arms. In 1932, the R2 was given a valve cover. Since 1931 was the introduction year for the 198cc R2, it was again the only BMW to have a two-toned gas tank (sky blue and black separated by a white pin stripe). The machine was fitted with a 3-speed transmission and the engine and gearbox were offset to the right side of the frame. I sold this motorcycle in 1993.
